Active X is a programme that lets you access some web pages, look to see who the publisher is and if you know them (eg microsoft) then allow it to install. If you can't work this out install it, go to tools/Mangae add ons and get it's name and post a question asking if it is safe.

Only if those games install spyware or any other programs that automatically load with Windows and run in the background sucking up resources. Otherwise, they're no different than any other applications. Some apps can also just be poorly programmed and can mess up your system files, but that can be caused by any kind of app, not just games. Just do a Disk Cleanup and Defrag once a month or so, and be sure to scan for malware regularly. And don't forget to set a System Restore point now and then. I would also recommend googling and downloading a program called "Startup CPL" which lets you see exactly what programs are starting up with Windows and you can disable anything that's unnecessary.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
