I took a parenting class, and I learned that you are not supposed to give your baby juice before a nap. Babies usually fall asleep while drinking the juice, and the sugars get left in their mouth causing their teeth to rot over a period of time.

Because the babies tend to leave the nipple in their mouth for a long time, especially after falling asleep, and the juice just sits there on their teeth. If they're using a cup, they take a sip and put the cup away. It doesn't sit on their teeth, they swallow it.

with a cup,u drink things fast.with a bottle, the baby can keep drinking a long time-stop,then start,it can take a long while to finish a bottle-so the juice is in contact with teeth longer.same with milk.

There is more contact with tooth enamel with a bottle, but with a cup it basically goes straight down- sucking from a bottle means that there is more in the mouth until there is enough to swallow, so it can do more damage.
