Shouldn't we celebrate everyday? Why should we wait for a special day to get together with our friends and families?

Good point, but I'm not going to let Christmas or Easter be just like any other days. They are Christian holidays and need to be celebrated. Thanksgiving I'm willing to give up. Cooking and cleaning up all day while the men sit and watch football. Women really got the shaft on that holiday!

We should enjoy and live life to the fullest everyday. Never give up opportunities to spend time with cherished friends and family. You shouldn't need to wait for a holiday to do this. However, that said, holidays are time honored traditions. They are ways for each family to set their own traditions and learn from others. Many, honor sacred beliefs. Some, honor other people whom without their actions or sacrifices we would not be where we are today. Not everyone needs to honor all holidays, and not all celebrations need to be national, they may loose there specialness that way. Just remember that there are moments in history that should be thought of, remembered and celebrated.

I agree that we should celebrate everyday. But I guess some people need holidays to "force" them to stop working and celebrate. I hate to admit it but my family would never get together without holidays. If we didn't feel compelled to see eachother at Christmas we probably would never see eachother. Holidays remind people to slow down and spend time with family and friends.

They're big business. They're all supported by corporations who earn money who basically keep our economy running. They're money boosts. Increases in sales. If you'll do your homework you'd find that Halloween wouldn't exist if it wasn't for corporations. It's like that with most holidays that aren't supported by some form of battle or remembrance.
