My 13 year old has lost his phone, had it taken away in class, and now it has been stolen by a "friend." All of this happened in two months!!! Your father is not old-fashioned, just being sensible. Who is going to be responsible for the cell phone bill when you go over your minutes? If you are involved in after-school activities, you "may" need one.

Well, tell him your reasons for wanting a phone. Do you want one to fit in, or to call him in emergencies? Act responsible and ,ature--getting on your knees and begging is going to make your dad think you're too immature and irresponsible and you might lose it. I think Honey7 is wrong--he might think that you would not be smart enough to borrow someone's phone and irresponsible to go somewhere where you couldn't easily get in touch. Suggest to him that you get the same type, so that calling each other is free. Or he could get you a Disney phone, where he could keep track of you. Also, if you got a firefly, he would get to choose who you were and weren't allowed to call.

Maybe your dad can't afford one right now. As someone else said earlier, when you're old enough to get a job, you can pay monthly for one yourself.

It's simple, one night when you go out stay out late and make sure you're somewhere your parents can't get in touch with you. When they realize if you had a phone they would be able to reach you all the time they'll get you one.

Hey, I'm all for you having a cell phone as long as you are the one paying for it. When you can afford it, buy it.
