I agree with gay marriage 110%.

The arguements I've heard against it are just ridiculous...such as "Its not natural because gay couples can not produce children"..Lots of straight couples can't have kids...So the arguement ... is moot.

What my neighbor, friend, or family member wants to do in his bedroom is not my business..nor is the sexual gender of whomever he chooses to marry.

What IS my business is equal rights....Thats why I don't just "tolerate" the thought of gay marrige...I SUPPORT it.

BTW....My mother is gay (I was one of those things that happened back when she was trying to pretend she could be straight)...She and her partner raised me..(YES they're married)...And guess what...i turned out JUST fine...well...
Of course i ended up with this awful case of open mindness and the horrible inabililty to tolerate ignorance...BUT...besides that...I turned out just peachy :)

Gay marriage, straight marriage, plural marriage, line marriage, temporary marriage, what ever works for the people involved, it's their lives that will be effected, not mine. That makes it their business and choice, not mine. The government and churches should keep their noses out of it, we are talking about basic Human Rights. If you look around, no where that has re-legalized same sex marriage (it was perfectly acceptable until it was banned by the Pope in the 10th century) has had any negative consequence observed.

This is a very tough moral delima for me, so read on. I was really worried about all the religious fears of the affect of the "sanctity" of marriage and in particular MY MARRIAGE.

First I had too ask my wife whether your marriage affects the sanctity of my marriage. I'm in the dog house today for not taking out the garbage and forgetting our anniverasary. Now, if I tell her that I forgot because of my being upset/destracted about YOUR wedding, we could have great make up sex and who knows, I might have another offspring to carry on.

Then, there is another factor to consider. What if I KNOW you on I'm related to you. Then I MAY HAVE TO BUY A GIFT OR ATTEND SAID WEDDING. This have a major affect on the sanctity of my marriage because I have less money and less time to buy the wife flowers the next time I am in the dog house. On the otherhand, she seems to like to dress up to formal things and so me going relunctantly, puts her in a better mood, which means less nagging for me later.

Next, I have to be honest, I find gay sex a bit gross for my taste. Then, after some thought I realize that "hey", I find hetero sex gross sometimes too, especially if I consider neither participant to be attractive. Many people perform "gay" acts in hetero relationships so, ... Also studies have shown married couple have less sex and certainly less public sex, so you being married might be good in that books too.

Then what about those gay pride parades? I mean all those naked people in kinky clothing. Oh wait, if you are married then you are consider "legit" and theoretically responsible. Mabye you'll be more likely to keep it at home.

Then there is the religion factor. I may think homo sex is sinful. Then again, "HELLO", adultery is sinful and many think DIVORCE is sinful. You wanna risk making those ILLEGAL? FAT CHANCE. You'll be strung up before the sun goes down. Also, what about the fact one church CONDONES it and another CONDEMNS it. HELLO. Join the church that suits YOU. People who disagree can join another church and YES I CONDONE individual churches making their own choices on this matter, including whether or not they want to have Gays. It works out because some DO and some DON"T, it has nothing to do with the government. All good.

Conclusion? Gay marriage? Why not and call it whatever you want, but I don't really have much of a problem with it. Gay parades? Well, mabye sometimes. Gay weddings? Keep it tasteful, I hope but well, well, its ok with me.

Yes. Gay marriages already exist in everything but official recognition by the governmental and religious authorities and the fringe benefits that accompany that recognition as described above by abqdan. Official recognition simply adds just due to what already exists in practice. What do those who object to gay marriage have against monogamy anyway? If it's good for them, it must be equally good for others too. Why not promote behavior that would tend to decrease promiscuity and the spread of disease?

In Spain gay marriage it's been fully legal for two years (including adoption) and the sky hasn't fallen and I haven't notice the difference myself. For a lot of people, though, it has been a lot different to feel that they were not legally discriminated any longer. As the vicepresident of Spain said, the greatness of civil rights is that the more you share them, the more everyone of us gets. (sorry for the translation which will be inaccurate but you'll get the meaning)

Yes. Why does the United States proclaim to be a democratic country with equal rights for every one , when they actually deny this very right for Gay folks to legally get married?
I think they should not call it Democraty they should call it In-Equality!
Same with African Americans or other ethnic groups. Why not have the same rights for every one? Why are you all so afraid of it?

I agree with treating all individuals as equal under the law. This has nothing whatsoever to do with religion.

Churches should remain free to refuse to marry gay and lesbian couples.

Gays and lesbians are tax payers, and deserve recognition in tax code, under inheritance law, and in family law for their partnerships. We cannot treat one set of Americans one way, and another set differently. Didn't we learn that in the 60's?
