Yes, but that secario would never occur where you would want to do that because:
A) If you are in field goal range (Roughly on the 40Yrd Line or closer) a punt would easily go into the endzone. You're better trying for the field goal if u can make it or just punt if u can't. A fake fieldgoal-punt would still be a touchback so no use in faking.
B)If you are out of range they will obviously send a man back to return the short fieldgoal so it is essentially the same as a punt.
Yes you can but it wouldn't help you.

Yes, but probably wouldn't happen.
The field goal holder would take the ball instead of having Vinateri (or some of the other 31 starting kickers in the league) kick the ball. Then the holder would make a punt.
Listen to Curious George to find out why it is unlikely, but a third reason off of his list is because a defensive lineman would probably get in and block the punt.

Yes you could, but it wouldnt make much sense being close enough to the endzone. Sometimes in situations where your too close to punt but too far to kick a fieldgoal the QB will take the ball and do a soft kick. The idea is that the defense is expecting a play to be run so they do not lineup in punt return. Then the offensive players knowing that the QB is going to kick it can run down and try to down the ball as close to the goal line as possible.
If you were close enough to kick a field goal but didn't want to I think it would probablly make the most sense to just run another play and try to move the ball as far as possible.

You definately can.
Most coaches use it when they know they are out of range or close to being in range.
They set up as they are about to kickin a field goal...this way the opposing team might jump offside.
Also if the other team buys that you are indeed interested in kicking a field goal then they might not sent anybody back to field the punt....giving you a good chanche to field it inside the 10

yes you can. i've seen it several times. and if you are in long field goal range, a pooch punt would not necesarily go into the end zone for a touchback. the point would be to catch the defense off gaurd. it's no different from pretending to go for it on 4th down and having the QB pooch punt. that's something else that i've seen happen several times.
