I posted bond for my friend in Louisiana in 1999. And she jumped bail. 7 years later I have been receiving calls from a lawyer in Texas trying to collect on this. Does anyone know if there are any statue of limits on this? I just don't see how I can be sued after 7 years. Please Help!!!

There is a statute of limitations, but how long it is depends on what you signed when you arranged for the bond.

If the document you signed was a promissory note, the limit is 5 years. If it was a contract, the limit is 10 years.

Odds are it was a contract, since there was no certainty that there would actually be a debt. You agreed to it, and even if you weren't 18 at the time, you've gone past the time you could disaffirm it.

I suspect you're going to have to pay them, with interest for the past six years, plus that attorney's fees.

It's probably too late to even get your friend to turn herself in for them to get their money back.

What are you being sued for? Didn't they collect the bond when you posted it?

Are they suing you for the bond money?
