I know how to crochet a simple row, but I would love to be able to crochet a hat. I'm not good at crochet terminology as I am only a beginner (very much so), and I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a site which uses simple language and directions perhaps with pictures included? Thanks so much.

Are you aware of the Google and Yahoo search engines ? You type in "free crochet hat patterns", and you should be getting what you need. It is very easy. You start with a chain, and conect it in a circle and then develop the patterns. Find the simplest hat there is for the first one, a child's hat will make it even faster soon you will not be a novice at crocheting any more. The patterns are often marked, easy, medium and advanced . Have fun it is my favorite passtime. You are welcome, Happy Thanksgiving

here is a simple hat pattern, you have to make a small chain and join it into a circle, then start your double crochet in the circle. Try it, it gets easier as you go
