after turning it off it goes completely dead once i try to turn it on again,
I have to move the battery wires around and i got power again, what can be causing this? could it be the alternator?

No, you just have a poor connection at the battery terminals. Remove and clean the cables and battery terminals with a wire brush. Check the cables to make sure that they are not corroded either.
Should be good to go from there.

Check the battery cables and battery posts to make sure they are clean. Check the battery cables to make sure that they are in good shape. Also check the ground to the engine block. Make sure all are clean and tight.

if cleaning the connections dosent work replace your battery cables

you got bad terminal ends.clean the posts and install new terminals.
