If they really want to help these horses then they need to lower their prices. They are making money off the hearts of animal enthusiasts. Look at the condition of some of these horses. The one draft horse is really underweight and some of the mares are too. I think the treatment and care these animals get disgusts me to no end. On one of the mares they were asking 6100.00. Now come on here. This is ridiculous. If they really need to find homes ASAP then lower the price. If these horses go to auction they wont get that kind of money, more like 300-1000.00. I have Paints and people I know have top bred paints shown w/national pts and have had the best care that only bring in 800 at auction as yearlings. Riding horses w/pts and kid safe that have been properly taken care of their whole lives are going for the same or just alittle more then what they are offering these horses at. I would love to save these horses but these people are scammers and going off of your hearts. They have made money on these horses through the drug co. why else are they doing it. Its all about the big bucks. These people disgust me to no end and I cant stand thinking about these poor horses. Slaughter houses dont bid high, go to the auction and out bid them and still get the horse cheaper then if you were to buy them directly from the owners. Dont let these people make any more money then they have. Put them in the poor house.

I know that it costs a lot of money to foster foals and raise horses for that matter, but if they are truly desperate and need homes, they would just give the foals away and foster out the mares, not charge people, they have to pay for the horses recovery once they adopt them anyway they should not have to pay for the horse on top of that. But becuase they can get money for them at the slaughter house, they will not do that. And it is a crying shame.

I do agree with ivory. These prices are extremly high for unwanted foals/mares/stallions that are not properly well feed or treated (as it states they are). Plus, these horses are green-broke, to which the older mares and stallions were used for one purpose. Once a horse is around 8, they are set in their ways on some things.

I have three horses myself. I would love to adopt and take on another horse. However, my financies at the moment won't permit it.

I already rescued quite a few and had a few given to me. I just have to remind myself that I can't rescue every horse in the world. Although, I wish I could.

These farmers are all about greed. It is sad. I will not do donations as these donations will go into their pockets. Not benefit the horses at all.

Yes, I had the joy of riding a PMU colt, Calvin, the best horse I have ever ridden, he was a 2 year old and acted like he has been ridden for years and not months! There use to be a farm just south of me and it closed down when the demad for the drug it produces lost favor. Premaritine has been know to cause some types of cancer in menospausel woman (thats what we get for totruring horses to make a drug!!!) I do plan on adoptiong one(well probley a few...) when I get my farm in the next couple years. I prefer to adopt unwanted animals insted of buying "new", cuz then I know I saved their lives!

I know that Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, Al had
a large horse farm for PMU horses somewhere up in the northeast area of the country. It was top secret.(I don't know why) From the photos I saw, the horses all looked well cared
for. I guess there are several farms needed to produce the
urine needed.

That is awful! I will definitely look into it because I am looking to adopt a horse. I can't believe some people are cruel enough to slaughter unwanted horses! I have loved horses ever since I knew what they were and am for saving/rescuing ones in need.

I have 3,a 9 yr old qh mare, a 7 yr old paint gelding, and a new weanling paint colt, adopted them from a friend that goes and buys a trailer load of babies every month from canada. I agree with the last poster, they really need to lower their prices if they want people to even look. I know they have put money into them, and want money back out, but sometimes you gotta take it up the you know what to save a life. JMO
