i was woundering if you saw a drop of box for your local shelter at your local stores, would you donate? things like leashes, collers, dishes, blankets, exc. i 'm thinking of doing this, & i'm just woundering if it would work?

i can't belave i forgot vets., that is a great idea! any one who takes thier animal to the vet. has to love animals!!

I use to work at the SPCA and any donation is great!!! Keep in mind that everything has to be washable and sterilized (we bleached everything, so brightly colored blankets often faded fast). Stuff like rawhide bones, dog toys, catnip toys and lots of blankets(nothing with fiber fill stuffing, puppies love to rip them up!!!) Are what they really need. Our shelter used metal dishes, since the plastic ones often got chewed up fast. Leather collars and leashes are not really washable. If you wanted to go with the box go for it, I would prefer dropping it off in person to see the reations of the emploees and maybe hand out treats to the animals! Thanks for thinking about the animals they really do need us!

Be sure to contact the shelter(s) you are going to try to help first. Most businesses will want a letter from the shelter that states that you are known to them and are doing it for their benefit. I think it is a great idea and a wonderful way to benefit the needy pets. Good Luck and don't forget to ask for kitty treats and food too.

Yeah definitely, whenever I go to humane societies, I always bring dog treats, or blankets, leashes or toys. It's a great thing to have!

i definetaly would do this too. it is a very good idea. just be shure to express what you are collecting for. i did see some boxes and i also found some to donate cash for pet food. i donated $
