The Bible says it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God (Matthew 19:24)

So why are so many fundamentalist Christians so Republican and pro-capitalism? Surely they should see accumulation of personal wealth as a sin, and a barrier to entering Heaven.

By only reading a portion of the Bible or just a verse is not the intention. Matthew 19:21 "Jesus said to him, " If you want to be PERFECT, go sell what you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me." Matthew 19:23 " Then Jesus said to his disciples, " Amen I say to you, it will be HARD for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.
This was given by Jesus to a young man who had thought he had done everything to enter heaven, Jesus tells him to be "perfect" he should get rid of all earthly possessions. Secondly it says "hard" for a rich person to enter heaven, not impossible.
