I have about 50 of them they just do some times check to see if its just them swimming in the water flow or curent in your tank

They may have been scared, intimidated, or quite simply the water isn't quite right for them. Africin cichlids require a little warmer water than normal fish, so watch the temperature, if it's a new tank then check the ph levels and all of that, other than that, maybe someone scared them by accident, good luck, not too sure.

There are 2 main reasons they do this.
First it's a mating behavior. The guys shake at the girls to get their attention.
Second it's a dominace thing. The more dominate males (or even females) do this to intimidate the less dominate ones.

Most of the time, the quivering is part of the whole mating ritual - a sort of display.

I'm not completely sure, but mine does this as well. I've had him for about five and a half years, and I just noticed him having "fish seizures" (as I like to call them) about two years ago. I once read somewhere that it is a sign of sexual maturity. He is an otherwise happy, healthy, and companionable pet. If mine can live for two years while having fish seizures, so can yours.
