Please go to the doctor right away. Unless you are pregnant or have been breast feeding, discharge should not be coming from your nipples. If you don't have a doctor or insurance, seek free care at your local health center. This is seriously not a question for here...but one for a medical professional.

You need to see a doctor soon because this could be as serious as breast cancer, or as simple as your prolactin (hormone) level being out of whack. Check your breasts monthly in a lying position then in an upright sitting position. Look for any discolorations, irregular dimples, the nipple pulling up into the brownish area around it. Any discharge from the nipple when you aren't or haven't been pregnant is something to be addressed by the doctor or health department. I still have thin milk that comes from my nipples, but I breast-fed my last child 4 years ago. My doc said everything was okay after checking my prolactin level. The important thing is to get it looked at. Good luck and happy holidays!

I wouldn't freak out too bad. I had the same thing happen to me and I wasn't pregnant. I went to the Dr and they said it was nothing to worry about. It can be a high level of hormones especially if you are on Birth control. Still have it checked b/c you never know but when mine did it it happened until I did have a child then after the milk dryed up I didn't have anymore probelms. I am not saying go get pregnant but just letting you know I have been there too. Good luck!

It sounds like you have galactorrhea. It is a hormonal problem caused by higher levels of prolactin. You need to see your family doctor so that he/she can refer you to a specialist. Either a gynecologist or an endocrinologist.

If you have other gynecological symptoms than it is better to see a gynecologist. Your prolactin level can be checked by your family doctor to confirm this is indeed what is causing you to leak from your nipples.

Your nipples may be sore if you have been trying to excrete the liquid. If you are doing this, you need to stop as this can actually stimulate further production of prolactin and your problem will only get worse.

Good luck

There is a benign pituitary tumor and thyroyd issues that can cause lactation. If it is pregnancy related, you would have to be several months pregnant before leaking. how long has it been since your last baby? My youngest is almost 4 and I still can get colostrum on occasion. All it takes to relactate is some really good nipple stimulation.
