Could be.

Could also be your ISP provider is having trouble with their network.

Your computer might have the graphics and/or video settings too high and is causing lag.

Is it a specific game you have lag in, or any online game? Or is it even online games?

make sure your computer meets the need of the game your playing like RAM, HARD DRIVE, VIDEO CARD, INTERNET SPEED is the most important thing for online gaming! i play Counter Strike online, and i don't lag except when i play on "high ping servers" or playing in a west coast server.
