Ipod batteries don't last as long as many people think. After awhile the batterie just gives out and the ipod won't work anymore. After that apple usually replaces your ipod or batterie for you. I would choose for the new ipod because it's going to take longer for them to get you a new battery and install it rather than just sending you a new one out of inventory. Also if there's any scratches or anything on your current ipod you'll get a brand new scratch and dent free ipod. But do it before the warranty goes out.

My bet is you're listening to music with the volume almost maxxed out. The advertised battery life of 24 hours is based on a 50% volume listening experience with minimal use of the LCD screen's backlight.
If you are getting around 20 hours of battery time using higher volumes, then you're ok. If you are getting 14-16 hours with higher volumes and using the backlight on the LCD screen a LOT, then you're ok.

i'm getting this each and every of the time from customers that "were given it moist", from falling contained in the pool (or commode) to the adult men ability washing their motorcycles with the radio on and "something smokes". if you're fortunate, eliminate the battery reason it really is now toast any way, If nevertheless kinda moist or damp (no longer water operating down your arm and dripping off your elbow) Blot it in a paper towel, even use your hair dryer on it (on LOW warmth) for a jiffy. Get (borrow from a pal out of theirs) a batt. If it lights up, bypass get a sparkling battery. If no longer, pitch it. maximum all mini-electronics immediately is hermetically sealed ic's fixed on MPF lined circuit forums, so opposite to customary conception, water (sparkling - no longer from a l. a. hurricane flood) doesn't do a lot extra damage except to short out the batteries. a touch worry-free experience can keep the cordless telephone hand set that went contained in the pool and so on. I deal mostly in bike sound kit and maximum of what I see is moisture condensation corrosion and vibration damage. and that i'm waiting to fix maximum of it.

I would contact Apple right away. If you have a problem, you want to get it on the record before you run out of warranty.
