Valentine
EDGAR ELLEN POE
For her this rhyme is penned, whose luminous eyes,
Brightly expressive as the twins of Leda,
Shall find her own sweet name, that nestling lies
Upon the page, enwrapped from every reader.
Search narrowly the lines! they hold a treasure
Devine-a talisman-an amulet
That must be worn at heart. Search well the measure-
The words- the syllables! Do not forget
The trivialest point, or you may lose your labor
And yet there is in this no Gordian knot
Which one might not undo without a sabre,
If one could merely comprehend the plot.
Enwritten upon the leaf where now are peering
Eyes scintillating soul, there lie perdus
Three eloquent words oft uttered in the hearing
Of poets, by poets- as the name is a poet's, too,
Its letters, although naturally lying
Like the knight Pinto-Mendez Ferdinando-
Still form a synonym for Truth - Cease trying!
You will not read the riddle, though you do the
best you can do.

Interesting but hell i dunno is he obviously in loveeeeeeeeee and is posting her name or to say be my valentine for everyone to read in the newspaper only if its uncovered but like most crushes afraid to profess to her.
Has this happened before, why is he afraid to tell her ? He says if she give in to his valentine she will have anything her heart or eyes desires lol MY KINDA MAN lol or is the one he loves with another man is he trying to pry her away from him?

Well I read up and check this out you answer this riddle is if you take the first letter on the first line F the second is r.

TO translate E.A.P's valentine,read the first letter of the first line in connection with the second letter in the second line,the third letter in the third line and so on until the end. The name will then reveal itself.

in short: the line number is the letter number (example; in line on F is the first letter so F is the first letter in her name);
her name is in three pieces;
her name is Frances Sargent Osgood

Frances Sargent Osgood was an author along side Poe. Poe was seemingly entranced by her, and actually wrote an essay about her. He attempted to start a relationship with her, and they flirted a bit. However, in 1835 she married Samuel Stillman Osgood, a portrait-painter. She died a year after Poe.
