I took a job away from family and friends a lil over a year ago and cant get home to see them on thanksgiving, so my boss who i absolutely adore has invited me to spend thanksgiving with him and his family who I also adore. What is a good gift or bring along. He alreayd said he has enough wine, should i just bring something for their son instead?

If those are the only two factors, I'd be with the people I love. In the real world, there would be more factors to consider: 1-Do I like my job? 2-Have I been given a CHOICE or an ULTIMATUM by my boss? 3-Do I need the money? 4-How many hours are we talking about? My regular shift? Staying over a few hours? 5-What is my relationship w/ my boss? Employee only? A friend that I'd help out? If I like my job & my boss, I'd be willing to skip a party. Because there will always be another party in life. Working on Thanksgiving is usually very easy work. To get paid more & work less is a good deal.

Just bring flowers or a simple snack such as cookies or cheese and crackers (something small if you're bringing food)...

If in doubt, ask the hostess if there's anything you can pick up on your way....

I'm glad you have a cool boss like that, you're very fortunate!

I think the rule is: don't buy anything expensive for your boss... I remember hearing that, plus it's not Christmas, it's Thanksgiving, be sure to let him know that you are thankful for him!

oh and by the way, yes, something for the kids is always okay, as long as you have enough for all the kids (and nothing expensive)
