No,it is not painful.
Sometimes there is slight discomfort in the healing process but as a general rule this doesn't happen often.
Generally speaking,"numbing" drops are used to numb the surface of your eye before anything is done and often times the Dr will give you some form of relaxant to ease anxiety for the procedure.
All you will see is the light from the laser beam and done properly,it is very very safe.

I had laser eye surgery some year in the past.... It does not injury in any respect!!! This became into between the superb issues I ever did! I had "custom Lasik" performed on the two eyes... i became into very nearsighted and might desire to no longer see something without glasses or contacts..... I had the surgery around 4pm contained in the afternoon... it took an entire of approximately 10-quarter-hour..... that's from the waiting room to the surgery and returned to the waiting room.... heavily.... I went living house and ate, then slept contained in the time of the night without problem... I then drove myself to the standard practitioner around 8:00 the subsequent morning and while they examined my eyes i became into seeing 20/15 (greater effective than 20/20) My eyes have when you consider that long previous to twenty/20, yet I enjoyed that I finished the surgery!! I exceedingly propose it!!!

I've heard that after the surgery, it feels like sand in your eyes. Lol, I don't really know for myself though.
