I recently started writing a novel in which one of the major characters is supposed to be a famous singer/songwriter. In the book the character of “Eddie” writes a song that he later records and it becomes a huge hit. If I should get this book published, do you think I should write and record the song as an add-on to the book? As a hobby, I also write songs and my cousin has a recording studio. Would you as a reader want to hear that song (or other “Eddie” tracks)? My only concern is if the song turns out to be okay in my mind, but not very good in other peoples mind, will that take away from the validity of the book? Would it be less realistic that “Eddie” was really a famous singer/songwriter if the songs were just average at best? Or would it help to create a real world feel to the book and make the character more tangible and relatable? I was thinking of either encluding a CD with the book, or putting the songs on iTunes. Something like that. Your help is greatly appreciated
