Which side? The most known Japanese fighter was the Zero, the Germans used the Me-109 and FW 190 as fighters, Brittain used the Spitfire and Hurricane, and the United States used the Corsair, Hellcat, P51 Mustang, Thunderbolt, and P38 Lightning.
There were many, many different models of aircraft used during the war. The Germans even used the jet Me 262. The US used the B17, B25, B24, and B29 as bombers.

The other answers are excellent. Let me add that in 1943
Willy Messerschmidt developed a jet fighter. Why not
look up its development and why it was never used
till the war was nearly over. Big blunder on the
German side!

the luftwaffe had to build most of their bombers "dive bombers" They had no heavy bombers to cripple the allies war production. The allies did. My favorite plane is the British De Haviland Mosquito. It was made from wood because metals were at a shortage.

OK. so pacific planes have folding wings so they can land on aircraft carriers. basically the rest you should know. the Germans had jet technology, but no fuel to use to fly them. so with more advanced planes they could have more successful bombing campaigns. so basically with out planes the war would have been lost. but the Germans lost their air capabilities but Allies still had them.
