people have a chance of seeing your breast! and also some 10 year old could accidently see it and might nag HIS mom about asking what is that? why was the baby sucking on it? plus it may turn on some prevs who will get horny and try to rape you, always be on the safe side! just bring a milk bottle (of your breast milk) ready for the baby when he/she needs it!

I don't get it. Why as women are we ashamed to use our breasts for the purpose they were intended. You have no problem whipping out a bottle to feed your baby, when in other cultures they would think you were crazy for giving your baby artificial milk!We have no problem watching pop stars flaunt their breasts but we are grossed out or think it is controversial to see a mother feeding her child in public. You know before I had children, I never thought about it. In fact I dressed in low cut tops, wore the low rise jeans and bared my midriff ala Pamela Anderson style. However, become a mother I have learned to value my body in a whole new way. My breasts are the source of nourishment for my children. They are nobodies business and I will continue to feed my children whenever and wherever I need to. You will see more breast from women wearing the latest fashions then from a nursing mom. Can we stop making such an issue of this? I will teach my son that a nursing mom is no big deal and that women should not be gawked at under any circumstance. As for associating it with rape... come on! Rapists will break into elderly peoples homes and rape them.. it is not about breasts! If breastfeeding is not for you, than you have every right to make the choice best for you but don't choose not to breastfeed simply because our society has over sexualized breasts! Let's teach our children to value all humans and not tolerate our over materialistic and sex crazed society. There is nothing wrong or gross about using our breasts for the purpose they were intended for.

I work in a dental clinic for children. Although I have no problem with a mother feeding their child, there is a time and a place. We have more that not, mom's who whip out their breast (over and over) with no covering and there are little boys, older boys and men sitting in the waiting room. It makes other parents uncomfortable and the children don't know what to make of it. I think that these mom's should have consideration for other's who may not be comfortable and just bring a covering. With all this political correctness, it makes you afraid to say that we have a room for those without a covering to breastfeed. They would flip out.

Although I wouldn't breastfeed in public, and feel a little ill at ease seeing some women whip their boob out at the drop of a hat in public to feed, I can't see a link with rape!
I know rapists are perverts but rape is more about power than sex.

Rape is about power, not sex.
Breastfeeding has been shown in some studies to provide children with a better start in life (mother's antibodies, etc). It is political because some people feel that it is sexual while others claim it is perfectly natural and therefore should not be hidden away. If someone wants to nurse her child in public, then fine, just don't ask me to watch. And don't be offended if I decide to look elsewhere. That is part of my freedom when I am in public.

Gotta feed to baby whenever it is hungry. We're so worried about seeing a boob to "feed a baby" but a woman can walk around with her cleavage jacked up or a see through shirt just to "feed her ego". I don't get it. What I do get is that people should get over it any worry about something more important.
Finally, breastfeeding in public is a personal "choice". If a person doesn't want to be embarrassed by it they have a "choice" not to look.

i breastfed in public for 16 months! what should i do let my son go hungry? deny him what he wants--- something perfectly natural that been going on for hundreds of years?? is it really that offensive? i mean have you never seen a boob before? once he was on which took all of 1/2 a second you can't see more than a bikini or people who wear low cut shirts can a woman who wears low cut shirts be blamed for her rape i think this question is ridiculous
although if a beastfeeding room was provided i would do it there its much more comfortable but if one was not avaliable where should i go to the bathroom floor? i thought of it at the start then came to my senses

I have to agree with the nursing moms. I will feed my kids wherever I am, whenever they're hungry. And if there isn't a nursing room nearby.......well, I'll find somewhere to sit. Another thing.....no one ever commented on me nursing in public, because no one ever knew. I fed both my kids in public, at restaurants.........with people around.......and my boob wasn't "hanging out", lol. I got so good at it, that after the inital latch on, I'd even nurse with my father in law in the room....he's old fashioned, and never even had a clue I was feeding his grandbaby!

I personally do not breastfeed in public, or I try to avoid it at all cost.... I don't like the idea of people looking at me, even if I am covered, they do have the thought of "hey! her boob is hanging out and theres a baby attached to it!"
Or if the blanket slips or the baby pulls it off me, I do not want to show off my boob to anyone..... the only people who see me breastfeed are my son (who is 2), my husband, and my mother.... everyone else I either cover for or I give the baby a bottle....
Also, another point.... I don't like making other people uncomfortable, I don't like that breastfeeding can make people uncomfortable, so why put people through that????? Be respectful of the people around you.... pump and give the baby a bottle while your in the mall.....
Thats my point.... and i'm stickin to it :)

its politically correct because its a nursing mother's RIGHT to feed her baby when and where she sees fit. If the mother is OK with nursing in public, then the observing public need to get over it because a nursing mother should NEVER feel ashamed when feeding her baby.

Ummm.... I think you are a tad bit misinformed..... Rape is about power, it is not about seeing breasts and privates. This is why even elderly women are raped... not because the man is attracted to them..... but because he can over power her. If a woman uses a blanket and her breast isn't exposed... I don't see the problem. Woman have breasts to feed babies; that is their sole purpose. They aren't for men.
