I kind of agree that it would be best to just get a new inexpensive model... Some places will shave a few bucks off of the price if you buy their "floor model" (the one they used as a display model) It is basically new set, however it has been used somewhat in the store.

If you still want to go with a used TV, you should not buy it until you can plug it in and see if it actually works well. You will want to check for picture quality, good consistent color, no vertical, or horizontal hold problem (picture flipping on the screen) You will also want to check out the sound quality. Be sure to flip the channels also just to make sure the "tuner" is not faulty.

Also give the unit a quick "Sniff test" Go back to the rear of the unit, take a big deep whiff where the air vents are. If you smell any kind of burnt smell, do not buy! That unit could have possible damage.

I hope this helped you out a little.

Yes. Have the person selling it let you turn it on and watch it for a few minutes. Also, ask for and receive in writing a guarantee for a week or so. If it breaks down within that period of time, your money will be refunded for return of the TV. Good luck.

Chow!!

I think I'd go with a new one. they aren't that expensive and you know what you are getting. I have gotten t.v.'s from people that didn't want them anymore. They worked fine but I didn't hand over any cash for them.
