I totally agree. I make it nice for my son, but honestly never really get the feel of Christmas myself. I have had so many Christmas' that were awful, and full of bad memories. Mostly the year I put up the tree on Christmas Eve because my Mom said she would not have time. I was 11. I did it all myself lights garlend, ornaments..just the way she would like it. I felt is was part of my present to her. I thought she would be so happy. It took hours. When she came home she was so angry she hit me and pushed the tree down on top of me telling me to "Clean this all up, and put it all away NOW!!" I can't honestly in my life remember on Holiday that I got the gift I wanted, or had anyone make me feel loved on Christmas. I learned to hate it, and always wait more anxiously for it to be over. It is the same this year. I will be buying the only gift I get this year. Atleast I will get what I want...if I can afford it LOL The point for me is only to make my son happy. I work hard to get him exactly what he asks for. I do like to see his joy, but it tends to make me feel like I have been so cheated in my life. Like...Why didn't anyone ever love me enough to do that for me? My Mom was getting expensive Jewelry, and $200.00 (atleast) each Knick knacks she collected, and I could not get a $15.00 doll that I asked for. If I did not get hit on Christmas that was a good day. So I dislike it...it is probably part of why I like Hallows Eve. I get the chance to be someone else for a change.

I'm too the point now that I just want to get through Thanksgiving. I just found out that 4 extra people are coming for Thanksgiving dinner. The place where we are going is a small small house and I can't imagine 4 extra people in there. I'm dreading Christmas too but right now I just want to get through Thanksgiving. I wonder if it would be rude to send my husband without me?

Didn't Charlie Brown ask the same question?
If I remember correctly Linus gave an excellent answer.
I suggest watching A Charlie Brown Christmas! : -)

it's definitely not as exciting as when you were young. I remember getting up at 4:00-5:00 am waiting with my brothers for 3-4 hours until my parents got up. Now I sleep till like 9:00-10:00 am.
