Are owners that cheap that they won't pay the big bucks for good managers? Sheesh!

Joe Girardi yes, Dusty Baker no. If I had "manager of the year" on my resume I would have thought at least more than one interview. Baker didn't have much to stand on in Chicago which wasn't totally his fault. I'm sure both will be back. Maybe in Dusty's case he might need to take off a season or two and recharge his batteries.

Baker never won a WS ring as a manager, he won manager of the year 3 times more on the performance of Barroids those years. Baker's a terrible manager who destroys pitchers.

What Girardi did as manager of the Marlins last year was incredible, but you have got to remember that these players were targetted as the top of the farm systems of the teams they came from. Girardi's young, he's still inexperienced, and not many teams will be willing to take on a manager with 1 year of experience.

Managers don't win games, the players do. Look at Bob Brenly and the 2001 diamondbacks.

i recognize that the two Joe Torre and Dusty Baker have had extra manging adventure then Joe (Girardi) has had. Girardi in basic terms had a million year of manging adventure with the Florida Marlins. Dusty Baker has perviosly manged San Franisco Giants and Chicago Cubs. and that i'm happy to work out that he's getting a guess to mange lower back, who might have believed that throughout the time of 2002, whilst Dusty Baker became employed via Jim Hendry for the activity of manger of the Chicago Cubs, that he may be out the door 4 years later, and now manger of the Cincinnati Reds. And became out of baseball for the 2007 season, and because no one gave him the possibility to steer thier group, and doubtless with good reasons. Joe Torre has manged ny Mets, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and ny Yankees. Joe Girardi does ought to mange against Dusty Baker, yet he won't ought to mange against Joe Torre, so he won't see a minimum of this season, if his group can beat the l. a. Dodgers, or if he can out mange him. we are able to work out who could have fulfillment as magner, bubt i'm hoping that they are going to with thier first seasons with thier new communities.

Girardi I'm surprised about. But Baker is no surprise. Just remember that he gave Russ Ortiz the ball in the MIDDLE of the game in the World Series and that's a jinx. Not to mention he used the same mid-relief, set-up and reliever in three WS games back-to-back to show the enemy how he was thinking which is an unpardonable weakness in any sport.

Dusty Baker is a HORRIBLE manager.

To be quite honest, I can't think of a worse manager among all active managers in the major leagues. The man is a disaster.

I feel sorry for any team foolish enough to let Dusty take the helm.

I live in Chicago, and i speak for all Chicagoans telling you that DUSTY SUCKS!

girardi is great, and will be a manager again, and im a bit surprised he was not picked up. he might be waiting for torre to be done in NY though so he can take that over.

dusty is not very good. Giardi is the best manager in baseball next to Leyland, maybe better. The marlins were idiotic when they let him go. I cant believe they did that. I am surprised the the cubs didn't get him. After Joe Torre retires he will manage the Yankees. Thats my prediction.

Is Dusty Baker really that great, or he is perhaps just the most overrated manager in the game? How did he do with the Cubs?
