I left some baby pacifiers sterilizing on the stove by mistake and when I came upstairs the house was filled with smoke. The pacifiers had all melted and even the stainless steel pot was partially melted. The smoke is now gone, but there is a terrible smell in our log home. It is cold outside now and not easy to leave the windows open with a baby in the house. Is it safe for us to be breathing in these fumes or are they just embedded in the log walls?

I have heard that melted straws emit a gas that is very toxic, but melted silicone, I don't think so. I don't know how much smoke you had, but if it's still strong after another few hours, I would call ServPro or someone who can de-ionize the house.
