Why do Manchester United fans sing "The Blaydon Races". I heard it yet again during tonights Celtic V Man U game. The Blaydon Races is all about a running race that starts in Newcastle city centre and ends up Blyadon, whilst naming local land marks such as Scotswood Road. Why do Manchester fans wish to sing about that. Have they got no songs of their own?

Read the question. I'm asking why they sing about race famous in Newcastle. I'm not bothered that they sing it, just asking what the link between Man U and Newcastle running race is.
You also seem to be upset that Celtic beat Man U. This question is not about Celtic or Scotland

Ive never personally heard it sung, may just be one than an older fan has resurrected recnetly (its clearly an old one because theres hardly any of Warwick Road now on the North side (the parts that pass the football and cricket ground have been renamed Sir Matt Busby Way and Brian Statham Way respectively) plus theres the link to a side from the 50's or 60's under Sir Matt himself

don't really know why they sing it! i think mickeyb has got it quite right!
but you are right when you suggest they have no songs of their own.....their main song is Glory,glory,man united.....
which as everyone knows was first used(and still is used) by Tottenham fans....Glory,glory tottenham hotspur!
u would think a big club like them could be a bit more original.
although as most Man U fans have never been anywhere near manchester,it's not suprising their songs come from elsewhere!
