I think its better than all other types of music but not better than everything

Well I am 38 now and have been listening to Hip Hop off and on since I first heard The Sugar Hill Gang. In 1977 I was 9 years old Punk was the new sound and since then nothing has had the effect on popular and music that hip Hop has. It has effected almost every genre of popular music. If you want a book recommendation I would suggest Garry Mulholland's The 500 Greatest Singles Since Punk and Disco. Basically he comes to the same conclusion, with the telling line, "Rock and Roll is alive and well and it lives in the machines of Timberland" It will be a long time till pop music changes as dramatically again, because once you have made the imaginative leap that says previously record music can also be an instrument, namely sampling, there is very little else to do. But then I am not a musicologist or a musician maybe out there there is a group of people thinking and
tinkering with music at its most basic not in terms of song and tunes but in terms of how you make it and what can be music. Until then yes Hip is at least in terms of popular music better than everything else.

Though I am a hip-hop lover I can not sit here and say it is the best; it is all about personal preference. The best music out there is the music that plays in your heart everyday.

I love HIP HOP yes I do, but do I think its better than the rest...to me yes. To others it may not be, that is just what I like. Everybody got there own taste in music...now if it was do you like HIP HOP better than rap then I would say yes. I don't like rap but I love hip hop...But I also like the blues, jazz, r&b, spanish.......anything with soul!!

I have a boat load of CD's which covers a lot of musical types, including hip-hop.
Love hip hop as long as it keeps developing and changing.
Love Springsteen cos he is doing something new by playing with something that is old.
Rock on and play it loud.

No, I like all kinds of music. It depends on the person, I guess.
I'm into R&B hip hop (Ciara, Chris Brown, Jagged Edge, etc.) but I also love alternative/pop rock.

Hip Hop sucks. Rock n roll and country is where its at. I don't to care to hear about hoes, drugs, gun fights and bros. I also get tired of hearing the F-bomb dropped 5 times in one minute.
