5. So first write down what you know: 2W + 2L = 64 & L= 3W-4
So plug L into the equation: 2W + (2(3W-4)) = 64
2W + 6W - 8 =64 then move the 8 to the other side
so you get 8W = 72
W = 9
Then put that into the L equation to get Length. L = 3(9) -4 L=23
6. F = first number, S= second number, T= third number
F + S + T= 64
S = 3+F and T=2F-11 so just substitute F & S into 1st equation..
F + (3+F) + (2F-11) = 64 ... F= 18
S= 3+18 = 21
T=2(18)-11 = 25
10. 8x - (6x-4) =10
just distribute the - sign and you get 8x -6x+4 = 10
solve for x.. 2x =6... x=3
13. x + (x-1) = 17
x+x -1 = 17 so 2x = 18 then divide by 2 and x = 9
14. x + (x-2) = -20
x +x -2 = -20 so 2x = -18 divide by 2 and x = -9
you need the small number so subtract : -9 - 2 = -11
answer: -11
15. Use two numbers x and y.
you know that x + y = -16 and lets just say x = 3y -4
substitute x into the equation... 3y -4 +y = -16
solve for y by adding the y's and bring the -4 to the other side...
so y = -3, next plug -3 in to the equation to solve for x.
x = 3(-3) -4... x = -13
16. this is the same as # 14
x + (x-2) =32 so solve for x
you get 2x = 34
so x= 17
Then subract 2 from that to get the smaller number
17 - 2 =15

5.The lenth of a rectangle is 4 centimeters (cm) less than three times the width. The perimeter is 64 sm.
Find the width and length:
the legnth is 4 so both leghts r 8 64-8= 54/2= 48
width=48
lenght=4
6.The sum of three numbers is 64. The second number is 3 more than the first The third number is 11 less rhan twice the first. Find the numbers
3+11=14
so 14=3=11=64
10. 8x - (6x - 4) = 10
8x-6x-4=10
+4=+4
2x=14
x=7
i dont get the rest :-p

Answer 1:
L = 3W - 4
P = 64
2(L + W) = 64
2(3W - 4 + W) = 64
4W - 4 = 32
4W = 36
W = 36/4
W = 9
L = 3W - 4 = 23
Answer 2:
Let the numbers be 'x', 'x + 3' and '2x -11'
x + x + 3 + 2x - 11 = 64
4x - 8 = 64
4x = 72
x = 72/4
x = 18
x + 3 = 21
2x - 11 = 25
The numbers are 25, 21 and 18
Answer 3:
8x - (6x - 4) = 10
8x - 6x + 4 = 10
2x + 4 = 10
2x = 6
x = 6/2
x = 3
Answer 4:
Let the integers be 'x' and 'x + 1'
x + x + 1 = 17
2x + 1 = 17
2x = 16
x = 8
The numbers are 8 and 9
Answer 5:
Let the numbers be 'x' and 'x + 2'
x + x + 2 = -20
2x = -22
x = -11
The numbers are -11 and -9
Answer 6:
Let the first number be '3x - 4'
The other is 'x'
3x - 4 + x = -16
4x - 4 = -16
4x = -12
x = -3
The smaller number is -3
Answer 7:
Let the numbers be 'x' and 'x + 2'
x + x + 2 = 32
2x + 2 = 32
2x = 30
x = 15
The smaller is 15

5. Let the length be x.
Then width is 3x-4
x+x+(3x-4)+(3x-4)=64 (perimeter)
8x-8=64
x=9, so length is 9cm, width is 23cm
6. Let the first number be x.
Then second number is x+3, and third number is 2x-11.
x+x+3+2x-11=64
4x-8=64
x=18, so the numbers are 18, 21, 25
10. 8x - (6x - 4) = 10
8x-6x+4=10
2x+4=10
2x=6, x=3
13. Let the smaller number be x.
x+x+1=17
2x+1=17
2x=16, x=8
So the numbers are 8 and 9 => larger number is 9.
14. Let the smaller number be x.
x+x+2=-20
2x=-22
x=-11, so smaller number is -11.
15. Let one number be x.
x+3x-4=-16
4x-4=-16
3x=-12
x=-4, the other numbs is 3x-4=-16
so the smaller number is -16.
16. Let the smaller number be x.
x+x+2=32
2x+2=32
2x=30
x=15, so the smaller number is 15.

5. L = 3w - 4
2L + 2w = 64
3w - L = 4
6w - 2L = 8
6w - 2L = 8
+(2W + 2L = 64)
--------------------
8w = 72
w = 9
L = 23
6. x + (x + 3) + (2x -11) = 64
4x -8 = 64
4x = 72
x = 18
10. I'm pretty sure you could've done this one on your own.
8x - 6x + 4 = 10
2x = 6
x = 3
13. x + (x + 1) = 17
2x = 16
x = 8
14. x + (x + 2) = -20
2x = -22
x = -11 (remember that -11 is _smaller_ than -9)
15. x + (3x - 4) = -16
4x = -12
x = -3
3x - 4 = -13
-13 is smaller
16. x + (x + 2) = 32
2x = 30
x = 15

hi pal this an consumer-friendly question in step with linear equations you should use transposition technique in this technique while a term is transfered from one side to different its sign will become opposite answer: x+4-7x=22 =4-7x=22-x (right here x comes from the left side its sign ameliorations) =4=22-x+7x(right here 7x comes from the left side its sign ameliorations) =4-22=6x(comparable) =-18=6x x=-18/6 =-3 Bye Bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
