Some lesbien women have a "butch" look. They are obvioulsy interested in women and thier curves, boobs, shapes and femininity!!! So if they are trying to attract other lesbien women wouldent they want to be a little more womanly?

Red...I understand that people are attracted to different people. I think everyone knows this. BUT...my question was if lesbians like WOMEN then why do some of them go for the women who look like MEN? It is kinda contradictory.

alots of women that r so called "lesbians" believe they were supposed to be men so they have lowered their standards so to speak to appear as a boy and attract other women

Butch lesbians are the way they are because that's what's normal and comfortable for them. Many of them have a more "maculine" brain and dont feel the need to primp. They're more practical. Have you ever dated a butch lesbian? If not..you really don't know what you're missing. Many of them are very practical, helpful, kind, generous, loving, protective people.
A lot of them do kind of give off a very masculine look and a lot of them act that way as well, BUT they're not stupid and machismo about it like a lot of REAL men out there. They KNOW how to treat a woman right. They're very respectful, and a lot of them, once you get past the exterior are like big teddy bears that femmes have wrapped around their little finger...and some lesbians LIKE butch lesbians, or people like me, an FTM. (female to male transgendered).

Because some of us lesbians like butch lesbians. Some of us are not at all attracted to feminine lesbians (usually called femmes).

I am what some people would call a femme. I am not at all like the stereotype of what many straight people call a lesbian. Stereotypes are phony. We need to get rid of them and just allow everyone, straight and gay and transgendered, to be themselves. The lesbian women who are more androgynous or masculine in their look are great people. Wonderful, caring, intelligent, and creative women who also happen to be amazing lovers.

I think to some extent you are right, but some lesbians like myself, are attracted to women that don't fit the sexual image stereotype. I'm attracted to a womans personality. Curves are very nice and all, but it's more than just a physical attraction usually that makes a woman a lesbian.

That is somewhat of a very good question I have wondered myself. I am a straight women, but I worked with a lesbian women at my last job and she was not very fem.
I don't have anything against anyones sexual preferances. It is a curiosisty as with any other catagory in Yahoo Q's & A's.
I am curious to find out as well..

A friend of mine is a lesbian. She has a girlfriend that is VERY butch and just screams lesbian, {no offense}. I think IF I was lesbian I'd be more attracted to women that LOOK like women not that look like men. So good question I asked my friend what she saw in her gf Jo and she said its her personality not her physical look.

Yeah, even in lesbian couples this happens as well.
My partner is what I guess could be called "soft butch" and I'm "femme." But I wasn't attracted to her lable or her outward appearances as much as her personality, sense of humor, intelligence, and compassion.
I've dated one other "femme" and it was a constant battle of who was more 'femme' than the other. Totally turned me off and I ended that fairly quickly.

Its because its what they feel comfortable in and being... Some girls are really attracted to "butch" girls... I think its just a personal preference.... You know when a guy is a metro and some girls only date metro of vice verse... Its exactly the same but with two girls... Its what does it for you i guess

Being "womanly" is a culturally constructed set of behaviors. I think that some people are starting to challenge gender stereotypes because they don;t reflect who many people really are or how they perceive themselves.
