Sorry to say but that's not possible. I haven't seen any MoBo's that have support for both DDR and DDR2. My advise is to get a new computer =P

Acutally, i thought, and have always built computers along the lines of, sdoes the mobo support the memory.
I know some CPU's are finicky but, why would some one build a board that the CPU wouldn't play nice with the memory?
and the board appears to support DDR and not DDR2 memory

Hi, hi
I don't think it will, but most important: it doesn't matter. AMD was slow to support ddr2 memory because performance gains are negligible on its processors (as opposed to Intel's). This has to do with the different arquitecture and AMD's on dye memory. So even if you could use ddr2, the results would be the same as the cheaper ddr.

I don't believe AMD cpu's support DDR2 memory yet. I believe its only the Intel 775 chipset that supports it so far. The Asus board is a solid board and you will not be disappointed. You also have room to upgrade to a faster CPU as prices drop or when you when the lottery.

The mobo and CPU are compatible but you cannot use DDR2. The mobo supports only 128 bit DDR.
For DDR2 the supported socket is AM2.
