Yes. I have (do) spend a little more for the sea salt and I have tried sel de mer (something like that) which comes from France. I know you might think it is only to try to be too affected, but honestly, try it. The sea salt just has a deeper flavor. And the French salt is sharper but very subtle. All I can say is, things do get sort of pricey for a reason: they can be better.

I've used sea salt. Not sure I can describe the difference, but I wouldn't use it unless it was specifically called for in a recipe. One trick is that Kosher salt is just like sea salt but way less expensive because it isn't labelled "gourmet."

I have and it does - to a degree. Different salts have different flavors and also affect the chemistry of cooking differently. It also affects how you taste the salt. Sea salt is flakier so you taste the crunchiness of the salt crystal where as with kosher salt and it's large crystals, you get more of a shot of the flavor.
I wouldn't put kosher salt on my popcorn, but would most certainly cook with it. Just as I wouldn't cook with sea salt but would pour it on popcorn.

Yes there is a difference. Most Kosher or coarse grained salt is not as strong as regular table salt and has more flavor than regular salt.

Sea salt does taste different to ordiinary table salt.
I also use a salt called Khoisan seaweed salt - a blend of salt, herbs, flowers and seaweed
ISIS - You're talking about Fleur de Sel, which is often referred to as the caviar of salts. It's very expensive as it's only harvested in one village in France, and only in July and August. (There is a cheaper version Flor de Sal that comes from Portugal)

I have used sea salt, I like it for cooking and for me, It is not as strong if you put too much in something. I dont like too much salt anyway.
