I live right at the top of a ski slope, so I have definately asked the question... Unfortunately the answer is NO! Not only because of the risk of falling, but doctor's urge pregnant women to refrain from any activity that involves balancing, which can stretch the uterine and stomach muscles ie: Roller Skating, Water Skiing, etc! If it's reassuring, I have been told it's OK to cross-country ski! Looks like you're gonna be hangin' in the lodge this year!

You don't give us enough details to answer this.

Are you a regular skiier?

How pregnant are you?

Are you talking about downhill or cross-country?

My doctor said I could do anything I had been doing, except scuba diving or water skiing, as long as I was comfortable doing it. And I played indoor soccer until I was 6 months along.

(The prohibition against scuba diving has something to do with oxygen levels and decompression illnesses, and the water skiing prohibition has something to do with falling and possibly having water forced inside you when you fall...)

If you're further along, you should probably think twice. All the ligaments in your body are loosening up, and that can make you more prone to twisting ankles, etc. Also, your center of balance is constantly shifting as the baby grows, and that makes you more prone to falling.

If you're a beginning skiier, you might also think twice.

But if you're a good skiier, and you're not very far along, use your head, play it safe, and have a good time.
