Politicians blame video games because they want your vote. Rather than placing blame on lack of parenting, discipline, supervision, and guidence as it should be.Yes, pro-active wanna be mothers place blame there, because they don't want see that its the error of their ways that cause it. If you look at society up to the 1960's there was less violence on the street. But Popular Icons of the TV era were cowboys that were in gun and fist fights. Children played cowboys and indians with toy pistols and bows and arrows. But, corperal punishment was enforced in school rather than "zero tolerance" policies. If your neighbors kid messed up you handled it first then informed the parent. Parents weren't scorned for emberassing kids to teach them, or giving them a good swat in public for misbehaving. Then, look at our culture post 1960's hippy tree huggers with make love not war. Who grew into the yuppies that raised the parents of today.

Video games are totally scapegoats. Really, it's what's on TV and on the news. Plus, all video games aren't violent. Just a selective few that kids shouldn't be watching without first getting an lecture from the parents about the game's issues before viewing. Like when Resident Evil 2 came out, I remember being told that it wasn't real and that it's not good to shoot people. :)

Well, it is kind of true since kids play lots of fighting games and they copy what the characters do like kicking and punching.

they can't blame the political system they set up can they? they like to raise taxes and interest rates so that we can't get ahead in our lives and are always living like slaves.
And they wonder why we're violent....

It sounds good, it doesn't cost them anything, & if they can think up enough social catch phrases like that- it just might get them elected. Otherwise, you're right.
