I haven't had the procedure myself, but a good friend had a hymenectomy at age 16 and said it was a breeze. In my opinion, it would be much better than having the area rip or tear from sex or a tampon, and it is over in such a short time...not a lifetime of discomfort. My friend has said she was a little sore right after the outpatient surgery, but mostly just itchy and irritated from the few stitches. Post-op for her consisted of ice packs for the first day, pain pills as needed (not often), a precautionary round of antibiotics, and some soothing cream for the area as it healed. It must have worked well, because now 9 years later she's happily married and has a beautiful baby.

i've never had hymenectomy but i have had several surgerys down there. Down time shouldnt take long. No more than after sex for the first time. It's got to happen anyway if you want kids and stuff because its going to hurt too bad to have sex otherwise. It will probably take 3 days down time. GO to webmd and look it up.

I had a girlfriend who had the process done before we met and she said she was in and out of surgery in 20 mins. No pain & no blood & no downtime. She says she went in at 10 a.m. and was back at work in the afternoon.
I know being a man doesn't make me an expert, but I've had surgery "down there" a few times and it's actually pretty pain-free
for things like vasectomies and granuloma removal.
Hope that helps a bit.

I would think that this procedure would be better in the long run. I don't know what they actually do, but if there's pain involved, they'll give you an anesthetic or something and you won't even feel it. It sounds like you're either going to have to go through with this procedure or remain a virgin and motherless your whole life. I'm sure you don't want that.

I cant imagine this would hurt very much at all... most times a woman breaks her hymen they dont even feel it. you may just have one this is thicker or attached to the walls more.I would think the pain would be minimal and recovery would be quick, 1-2 daqys tops. I say go for it, it will be worth it in the long run.

darling, we have all had a hymenectomy in one way or another. Most of us didn't need it to happen in surgery... you might just have a thicker than normal hymen and attempts to use tampons or sexual activity are too painful for you to tear it yourself.
Will it be worth it? You may NEVER be able to have sex if you don't get it removed and you won't be able to get pregnant if you don't get it removed.
this is a fold of skin... that's all it is. For whatever reason, yours won't budge and you need a little medical assistance... this surgery will be nothing compared to recovery after childbirth, and your body was made for that, so I think you will be fine.
It'll hurt LESS to have this done surgically, than to try to force the issue yourself, since tampons and sex haven't been able to remove it for you. You'll be anesthetized, so you won't feel a thing. Don't you look forward to having a healthy, pleasureable sex life? Please just get it done.

I have never had this done, but I used to be a nurse and I can assure you it is a very simple procedure.

The hyman is a small, thin flap of skin. All they would need to do is do a small incision. They probably would not even need to put you under. It sounds pretty simple
