Yes that is normal, I loved the smell of gas when I was pregnant and I also had a craving to eat dirt and paint too. I asked my doctor and he said that it's normal but to not do it so as not to harm the baby. I will admit I did eat the paint! LOL! Not alot just a chip, cured my craving though.

I seriously thought I had something wrong with me, because I have the same cravings! I've had MAJOR cravings to smell nail polish, paint, gasoline, Windex, and other chemicals...I don't know why! My doctor said it's normal, just not to do it! They tested me for iron deficiency and other things that could go wrong during pregnancy, but I'm doing fine. I know it's hard not to want to smell those things, just try not to for the baby's sake!
Good luck and congrats! Your almost there! :)
By the way, are you having a boy or girl?

Its quite rare but can happen. It is called PICA...its a craving for things with no nutritional value or non edible products. In some cases you can get cravings for toxic stuff like you mentioned,
Go to this website for more information
If these cravings are extremely intense refrain from smelling them. They could harm you or your baby. Go to your doctor for some advice.

Are you craving to eat these things also? If you are you might have pica and you are probably lacking something in your diet...You really should tell your doctor asap...and I'm sure you know better than to go sniff those things and eat them.

Well, in pregnancy, what is normal? lol
I agree with the rest, ask your doctor, and wait on the sniffing right now. Because Chemicals are harmfull, and you shouldn't sniff them pregnant or not pregnant!

I don't think it's normal, but definately not unheard of! My midwife told me about women eating tire rubber and corn starch! Plus the things you desire to smell could be extremely harmful to your little one! Please be careful! You should let your doc know! Mine asks me about my cravings at every appt, so this may be important info!
