what are the best firewoods to use that are available in northeastern Oklahoma?

I have maple and elm but am not sure if these are bad for the fireplace.

maple and elm are great hardwoods. hardwood is what you want to be burning. Stay away from pines and spruce
(soft wood)...TOO much creosote and you'll end up with a chimney fire.

Oak!!!! Al the wood peddlers down here in Texas come from Oklahoma with their seasoned oak.
