I don't think they're overprotective, in fact parents should probably step it up a notch these days. I agree that kids today don't enjoy running free outside like many of us did but it isn't the parents fault. It's sad but it just isn't safe anymore. Also, it's good for the kids to be involved so they don't get bored and turn to other things (drugs, sex, violence). It's good to have a balance though, kids seem to be less imaginative these days probably because of the ADHD world they live in.

i don't think they are being overprotective at all. there is a lot of stuff going on out there. it seems like the parents that are overprotective though, are the ones that don't need to be, and the ones that aren't, are the ones that need to be more protective. kids follow their parents examples, and it just happens that the ones that raise the good kids are the ones that are too protective and don't need to be.

are you kidding.most parents don't know or even care where there kids are who they are with or even what they are doing. i have 6 grown daughters and i would like to have a dime for every time i heard oh mom your to protective. i had to know where they was going, who they was going with, and i told them what time they was to be home. when they started dating we had to meet the boy first.one time a boy drove up and honked for my daughter to come out. needless to say that date didn't happen. we was the most hated parents in the world that night. i think i biggest problem is that these days we have so many babies having babies that the parent is growing up at the same time there children are. there so young that they still want to go out a play and the children are left to raise them self.

you mean more controlling, not protective, if you think protective, they are just trying to be responsible.
