Ballroom Blitz is a song written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman for the glam-rock band Sweet in 1973. It appeared on their 1974 album Desolation Boulevard.

1979 - Appears on The Rezillos album Mission Accomplished...But the Beat Goes On
1979 - Appears as the "B" side on the The Damned single "I Just Can't Be Happy Today", with Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead guesting on bass. Later added to the CD release of their studio album "Machine Gun Etiquette". Also appears on several of their live albums, including "The School Bullies", "Ballroom Blitz", "Eternal Damnation" and "Noise".
1984 - Appears on the Krokus album The Blitz.
1988 - Appears on the "Under the Boardwalk" soundtrack performed by The Surf Punks
1991 - A cover version appears on the Nuclear Assault album Out Of Order.
1992 - Appears in the movie Wayne's World (performed by Tia Carrere's band "Crucial Taunt" in the movie).
1999 - Appears in the French movie La Vie Ne Me Fait Pas Peur directed by Noémie Lvovsky.
2000 - A cover version appears on the Calibretto 13 album Enter the Danger Brigade.
2001 - a cover version appears on the Testify albumn Ballroomkillers / the blitzkrieg mixes.
2003 - Appears in the movie Daddy Day Care and on the soundtrack.
2004 - A cover version in Spanish, appears on the Moderatto album "Detector de Metal".
2006 - Appears in the UK and US on a commercial for the new TV series Life On Mars.
2006 - Appears in the Danish commercial for Kung Fu Hustle on the channel TV1000

yes, it was the 80's and the band was "Sweet". There was a remake done (in the late 90's I think), but I like the original better.
