i was just wondering, let's say you have a high GPA, but you're not exactly a valedictorian. and let's say you apply to a few prestigous schools, maybe an Ivy or two, would you even be considered if you're a non valedictorian? but what if you have lots of extracurriculars, sports, volunteering and other unique accomplishments? and what if you write an amazing and engrossing admissions essay, and you feel confident that you could captivate the deans of admissions so that they will single you out, causing you to rise above the rest of applicants? i'm afraid that when i apply for college in a couple years, just because i'm not a valedictorian they will reject me right away without considering my other achievements and other attributes. please help me i'm really nervous!! and i'm a sophomore so i'm beginning to trek into this overwhelming college picking-visiting-applying process!!

they look at everyone applying, assuming your sat and grades are high enough. They don't only look for absolute academics, but also community envolvement and other extracaricular activities

It's luck of the draw. Go ahead and apply. Being valedictorian isn't the only thing that matters. Your extracurriculars (unique ones, not just being elected/being a member on every club) and test scores count. Your personal essays are important, too. Always apply to a few safe schools that you know you'll get into to be safe.

That's not true. There are only so many valedictorians, and tons more slots in college classes for incoming Freshmen. I work at a university where we only accept 1 out of 7 applications that we get, and many of those we accept are not number one in their classes.

if you keep up with all your plans and grades and apply to the schools then you could find out if you get accepted. the only way to know you get in is to apply. schools like high test schools, good grades terrific essays, recommendatons and to see that they be getting you as an asset and not a liability of wasting their time. with all the things you have mentioned accepting is very high for you school. also if you do get rejected you could appeal and even ask them why they reject you. you have that right.

It incredibly relies upon on what universities you're utilizing to. as an occasion, an Ivy League college will probably seem greater heavily at your extreme college's score, and so on. while a state college will probably concentration greater on your attempt scores and GPA extremely than your score.
