I know what you mean.. some say (moking) YOU have to be 18 yrs old for this or you dont have enough brains for that! BLA BLA BLA! right?!well i say muturity is when your ready not just because a picket number told you so. of course you have to be honest about yourself and dont do something that your not prepared for. Im not contridicting anything so dont get me wrong!
Well, IF i say so,just be true and dont follow those who are dumb or more harmful to you... (this is the best part), those who are WEAKER than you, for their efforts are in vain. see what i mean trust yourself and youll know best!

because young people don't have the maturity to make decsions that are best for them. your brain is not developed enough before around age 18 to be able to make decions about important things that could have a big impact on yourself, like having sex (too immature to be a parent and deal with emotions relating), drinking (too immature to know your limit and what it can do to your life and body if you get addicted), mardi gra (too immature and naive to keep yourself safe in such a rowdy crowd) etc. it doesnt happen overnight at 18, but the govt had to come up with an approximate age.

You forgot:
military service
signing up for selective service
smoking
and voting
btw, in the U.S. you have to be 21 to drink and usually 19 to get into clubs, sometimes you even have to be 21 to get into a club too.

Technically, those under 18 years of age are not completly mentally developed, allowing them to misuse or fail to handle those instiutions.
To change this, you will need pure scientific fact that there is no difference between the brain of a 17 year old and an 18 year old.

Well, I suppose at age 18 everyone is expected to be mature and be able to make good, logical decisions and act responsibly. It doesn't take long to get there, don't worry!!

Get over it. You will be 18 years old soon enough, then the fun begins. Work, bills, school, not having enough money, car payments, kids, house payments, electric bills, water bills, etc. etc. Sounds like fun doesn't it.

Because by law and your mentality, you are still a child. 18 is when you (Most times) are mature enough to do those things.
I don't agree with the age, but that's what the law says.

Throwing a fit about age limits only confirms the fact that the decision to have age limits is the correct one.

It's the law. Deal with it. Besides, at your age you're not mature enough to handle those things you mentioned. If anything, I think you should have to wait till you're 21!
