First, decide what gauge you would like to end up with. If you are currently at the standard size for most ear piercing guns, you are probably at either sixteen or eighteen gauge. Remember: the larger the number, the smaller the diameter of the hole. Therefore, you want lower numbers so that you can accommodate various rings. These include circulars, capture beads and other miscellaneous designs and types.
If you decide to go with fourteen gauge, for example, you will have a piercing that does not stand out much when you do not have jewelry in it. It is still a fairly small hole, which will greatly please anybody who interviews you for a job in the future. This gauge also typically marks the beginnings of a shift in design trends: you can find many cool, unique rings that will fit into this gauge without pain or discomfort.
Shop online or at your local piercing studio for the next available gauge. It should be one measurement higher than the hole that is currently in your earlobe. Because they are incremented by twos, don't expect to find a fifteen-gauge ring anywhere. If possible, find a stainless-steel capture-bead earring without twists or other, uneven designs in its main component. You really don't want to tear up your ears with this ring, as you will be stretching them to fit your new gauge.

Find out what gauge you are, you are probably at an 18 or 16. Then decide how large you want to go, that will help you determine costs and whether or not you should do it yourself or have a professional piercer do it for you. Often, most will stretch to a 14g or a 12 which allows for more jewelry options, but still able to put in posts or studs. The smaller the number, the larger the gauge and gauges switch to measurments after 0000g they become 1/2" and up. My ears are currently at 00g, with the other holes now back to 12g from being at 2g and 6g
There is a lot to explain, and very little time for me to do it, but some basics are below.
You should work up one gauge at a time, never skipping gauges. If you want fast results, you can have your ears dermal punched or scalpeled, but then a large area of your ear is removed and you wouldn't be able to have your ears shrink down.
Be sure to use a taper for every stretch, and go slow. You should expect some pain once you get past 12g, but if you ever experience bleeding or a tear, go down a gauge, wait for it to heal and try again. Always wait at least 2 months between stretches and during that time, use sea salt soaks to sooth your ears, just to make sure your fistula has adjusted.

I only began gauging final night! maximum people start up out with sixteen's, yet i began out with 10's. they're small swirls that artwork like ear tapers. in case you bypass with a gauge this massive before everything, do it in the bathe or use lotion/babyoil to luuube it upp. Ahahha. I desire the swirls simply by fact they're distinctive sizes for the time of the entire gauge, so all you do is circulate the swirl greater beneficial down and since the diameter gets greater beneficial it slowly stretches your ear gauge, and that's plenty affordable than determining to purchase distinctive sized plugs each and every time you stretch greater beneficial. properly, i'm hoping that variety of enables, stable success, and happy gauging!

Piercings start either at 16 or 14. wait until two to three weeks passed after the initial piercing has been done, then gauge them one size at a time once a week ya know, like from 14-12, 12-10, 10-8, etc.... Until you get to your final piercing destination! My septum is a 6-ga and my tongue, i'm about to put in a 2-ga.

you should definitly start with the smallest gauge you can find. my friends did that and started with too large of one and got their ears very infected. i am not sure where you live but we have a store in our malls called hot topic. if you have one go there and ask them what the best one would be to start off with.

start small - like try putting a couple of earrings in the hole at once, then move up to the size of a bellybutton bar
stretch very very slowly or you can tear ur lobe and it will mis shape and never re heal properly

usually they pierce with a size 18 so you should start by going down to a 16 - go to a piercing store.. they'll help you out.
