Anyone who has ever been a supervisor knows that a GOOD supervisor is the one that goes un-noticed... to lead is to delegate.. not to do it all yourself... so why is the US trying to do it all by itself? when leaders try to do it by themselves it blows up.. I've seen it many times myself.. and nations are no different. A good leader puts the people in place who can do the job the best.. that is the role of a leader... so WHY can't the US be the good world leader we want it to be and ask the correct nations to come into Iraq and help them because there are BETTER choices for this than the US! (Pakistan for example)

captainobvious.. there are plenty of other nations that would be albe to do a MUCH better job than we are just because they AREN'T THE US... and that's a fact... another fact is that they couldn't do any worse seeing as how there is allready a defacto civil war in Iraq.

ok, the analogy then.. a good supervisor would TRAIN someone to do the job if no one knew how.

Because the world does not need, nor wants a leader.
It needs diversity and cooperation. It needs its own self determination. Its people trying to rule those who do not wish to be ruled who are causing most of the trouble in our world.
A good leader is no leader, in a way I agree with you, a good way to influence people to make the right choices is by example not violence and bullying, but encouraging the people best to do things to do them, supporting them and all good people.
US as supervisor....no....Its just unchecked ignorant ethnocentrism.

A good SUPERVISER also knows that things need to get done so if nobody is willing or able to do the work they take it upon themselves to create a good product. The supervisor is the one responisble in the end so they cant let a bad product ruin the company.
I didnt say anything about any of that I just used your superviser analagy to show it was a bad one.
The job of the US isnt to be a "world leader" the job is to keep her self and her interests in check for the future. The world has already proven they are unwilling to stomp out radicals so we have to take responisibility to protect this world. We Opened pandoras box with nuclear weapons and we are now responisble to keep them in check to avoid a cataclysmic world event. As soon as one is released and a country is destroyed who is the world gonna point to for blame? Never the worker bees.

George W. Bush has ruined America's reputation as a world leader and global peacekeeper.
A good leader LEADS.....with confidence, prudence and a sense of fairness. He does NOT swagger around the world like a bull in a china shop, destroying whatever he wants just because his own hubris and warped egoism calls to his already-demented brain.
The "correct" nations are now AFRAID of the bully Bush and the new 'evil empire' he has brought upon the world. No wonder they hate us; no wonder they believe their only defense is their own nuclear weapons of mass destruction! -RKO-

It reverts back to the neocon notion that we can "domesticate" foreign countries soaked in Islam. The nationalism of this country is so bad the Republicans would rather lose all that "admit" anything(that goes for a number of their failed foreign policies as well).
Asking anything would look weak, and again, the psychology of dying rather than admiting anything is prevelant here.

PROBLEM IS WE ARE THE ONLY WORLD LEADER. NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO HELP OUT. SO WE HAVE TO HANDLE IT ALONE.
