Any non-standard 'personal' way(s) of saving electricity?

eg1) A meal with rice and heating up pre-made food cooked on electric hobs - after the 6mins for rice, I move the ricepan and put the other pan on that hob, turning the other hob off.
eg2) If I'm cooking jacket potatoes, I put loads in the oven. Any spare can be used to make perfect mashed potato or used to make soft fried potatoes.

My biggest waster is to run the TV and the computer at the same time. A radio uses less electricity. When the sun is out, I dry clothes on the line. I'm installing sky lites to let more light into my rooms so I can turn electric lights on later in the day. I cook chicken in the microwave for 4 minutes, then when I fry it, it only takes 4 minutes more, that's 8 minutes instaed of 15, and it comes out juicier, and less greasy.

If you are reasoanbly adept at making gadgets, A 200VA toroidal transformer with 18v (if 220/240v) or 9v (100>120V) secondary.

Plug the transformer in and take the wire from the lighting ring and connect to the secondary of the transformer, connect other side of transformer to breaker.

If you connect this the wrong way around (use a meter) you will end up with light being given a HIGHER voltage - bad, if you connec the output of the transformer the other way around, it will DROP about 10% off th lighting voltage. Makes no difference for long-life electronic lamps, but normal "flament" bulbs will last MUCH longer and use a little less power too.

More simply, replace bulbs with electronic ones
Turn lights off when not using them
Switch TV to OFF and not standby.

Turn off your computer. A 500 watt power supply running 24/7 hours burns a lot of electricity over time.

I unplug everything when I am not using it. (Besides like the stove and dishwasher) Any small appliance that you have out on a counter, unplug it when not in use. It still conducts electricity even if it is not turned on. During the day, open the blinds to light and warm a room.

Use a gas grill (out-doors, of course).

If you have a clothes dryer (that runs on electricity), put it on timed-dry on low heat. Or better yet, hang clothes up to dry.

When boiling water, start with already heate water (from the faucet), and boil with a lid on the pot (it takes about 1/5th the time to heat to a boil).

Your method involves a bit of self-delusion - do you use wood to soft fry the potatoes later? If so, use gas or wood as fuel to begin with.
