They are designed to give with pressure and not damage tires. How could they put them in the road if they damaged your tires?

There is always the off chance that one will strike your tire in just the right way and puncture, but that is rare and takes perfect timing and conditions. Kinda like how a tornado can drive a toothpick through a tree - perfect angle, speed, etc.

Nope, there no different to hitting pot holes and all the other junk in the road.

Tyres are designed to take it.
