I taught English to kindergarten age students for 5 years. We did not start with the alphabet. The alphabet would be a good start.
Are you teaching mainly to speak English, to read English or a mixture of both? Some everyday vocabulary is a good start because then they can use what they learn right away. Teach a simple sentence pattern with some vocabulary words that will work in the sentence pattern.

Teach the same things that foreign language teachers teach to young english students. Numbers, colors, expressions (happy, sad), and some animals. I don't think I learned how to actually form sentences in spanish until I was in 6th grade, elementary school was just simple vocabulary and very simple phrases like "how are you" and "good day".

I teach Bilingual Pre-K. We start out with things that are meaningful in the children's lives. Definitely nouns. Try to use catchy songs as well.
