Don't laugh but the most recent was Harry Potter, my favorites in the series (in order) are: Book 4, Book 5, Book 3, Book 6, Book 2, and Book 1.

Either Watership Down by Richard Adams or Absolute power by David Baldacci. Two very different books but both are excellent. Hard to put either down.
