I have had an IUD for about 3 months now. I got it shortly after my son was born. I have not had my period for 13 months now being that my son is 4 months old. I am no longer nursing. I am pretty sure my period has not returned because of my IUD. My question is, is it safe to not have a period? Will my IUD make it harder when I try and get pregnant again in a few years?

The mirena is just a very low dose of hormones. It's the one I'm considering using so I've done alot of research on it. It works with a very low amount of hormones in addition to blockage to prevent pregnancy.

It's safe to not have a period but if you're really worried then ask your doctor. She/he knows the most about your medical history, your son's birth and your IUD.

From everything I read, the Mirena will NOT make it difficult to get pregnant again in a few years. I'm choosing it because we may want to have children again in 3-4 years so I looked into this aspect alot.

Hope this helps!

If you still have the IUD its perfectly normal to not have your period. Most women dont when using it.

Nothing at all, in all the testing they have done, has even suggested that it makes it harder to get pregnant once its removed, in fact, most women get pregnant right after its removed.

If you're extra concerned, ask your doctor.

there are two types, one of witch has hormones. It depends on what you have. The one with hormones can cause you to have no period, and could make it take longer to concieve again. good luck,
