My school district had 7th, 8th, and 9th grades in middle school. 10th through 12th was high school.
It was the best of both worlds. As the oldest kids in Middle school, we could RULE the SCHOOL! However, as high school freshmen, we could participate in high-school level activities like band, musicals, JV sports. That way, when we made the transition to the high school, we were already acclimated.

It was long and boring. I got grounded most of that year because my grades were bad, and then we moved to a small, dinky little town and I had to buckle down and get my grades up.

i liked it. i hung out with mostly juniors and seniors when i was a freshman though, so it didn't really seem like i was really a freshman.

It was horrible. I starved myself to the point that I'd lost my mind, for a while.
