I am looking for promotional codes to save a few bucks when booking online. Anyone got any suggestions?

Just go to amtrak.com and sign up for their rewards program. You can only save money on the fare if you have points on your card already. If you sign up now you will automatically get 500 points that you might be able to put towards your tickets. Also if you book ahead of time you can also save. Also talk to a ticket agent and find out if there will be any discounts that will be coming available.
